Rockstar Juiced

Rockstar (Juiced)

Rockstar Juiced is made of one of the best flavor combinations out there: all natural mango, orange, and passion fruit.  The Rockstar Juiced series is made of 50% real juice, while still providing the same kick as the original Rockstar.  Rockstar Juiced tastes exactly like a mango-orange-passion fruit soda would, except you’ll still get a Rockstar kick out of it.  It’s very aromatic, giving off a mango and passion fruit scent.  You don’t really taste too much orange in there, which is O.K., cause it still tastes great.  A perfect combination of sweetness and tartness, this is an easy to down energy drink.  This is an exceptional energy drink.

Ratings:

Color:  10/10 (orange-yellow)

Canister aesthetics:  8/10

Taste:  9/10

Kick:  7/10

Price:  8.5/10

More Rockstar Juiced Facts:

  • Sometimes when Target has a price cut, Rockstar Juiced costs only $1.50.  Otherwise, $2.00

Rockstar Juiced tastes exactly like a mango-orange-passion fruit soda would, except you’ll still get a Rockstar kick out of it. This flavor slightly corrects the old Rockstar’s overwhelming sweetness with its orange flavor. Therefore Rockstar Juiced is better than its original. Still, it’s not as satisfying as Red Bull or NOS since it still lacks tartness and still retains a lot of sweetness.

Rockstar

RockStar_Original_FS

Rockstar tastes a little like Red Bull, but sweeter and has more of an unpleasant sour aftertaste.  The sweetness may appeal to some or cause dissatisfaction in others.  People usually find sour drinks more refreshing than sweet drinks.  The kick is decent at first, but wears off quickly.  The aroma of Rockstar is mild.  In other words, the original flavored Rockstar is a standard energy drink, with the standard taste and smell.

Color:  9/10  (Bright yellow – green)

Taste:  7/10

Kick:  7/10

Price:  8/10

More Rockstar Facts:

  • 2 for $4 at 7-11.
  • Try the Rockstar Juiced flavors, some are better than the original.

Ol’ Glory

Ol' Glory

One of the worst and disappointing energy drinks out there.  Ol’ Glory is admittedly very cheap, selling at $1 at some 7-11’s, but the taste and kick is nothing more than a Sprite.  It has no attempt to appeal you with its flavor, but by its size, price, and patriotism.  The can also advertises joining the army.  If they want people to join the army through their energy drink, then they really should make it “America’s Best Energy Drink.”

Rating:

Color:  7/10 (very light gold)

Container aesthetics:  10/10

Taste:  2/10

Kick:  1/10

Price:  10/10

More Ol’ Glory Facts:

  • Ol’ Glory really does taste like Sprite.
  • Only 7-11 sells Ol’ Glory.

Red Bull

Red Bull

The classic and original energy drink, Red Bull.  If you are new to energy drinks, make this your first.  The only problem with it is its price and its size: around $3 for a mere 8.3 fl. oz.  It’s worth it, though.  It has the typical energy drink flavor, but a little bit more sour and much more aroma, making it way more refreshing and tasteful than other normal energy drinks.  The aftertaste is not disgusting, either.  The can is also appealing, having a clean and shiny design.  The mouth of the can is also neat, with a more angular and small opening and tab.  The smaller opening means less spillage and neater design.  The only downside to Red Bull is its quantity, therefore it falls short of NOS.  But if you don’t want too much kick to your energy drink but want great taste, Red Bull is for you.

Rating:

Color:  10/10 (light yellow)

Container aesthetics:  10/10

Taste:  10/10

Kick:  7/10

Price:  5/10

More Red Bull facts:

  • Sometimes you can get a free Red Bull if you see a Red Bull car with a giant can on top of it.  Ask the girls carrying coolers for a Red Bull.
  • Red Bulls are much more expensive in 7-11’s, better to get them at a different store such as Target or Albertsons.

NOS

NOS (original)

This is the #1 energy drink on my list right now.  There’s a number of reasons for why NOS deserves the spot of #1 in the energy drink list.  The three fundamental reasons: quantity, quality, and kick (which translates to price, originality and taste, and the amount of energy you feel from drinking it).

Having a bottle brings uniqueness to this drink.  The bottle allows refrigeration after opening and retains the drink’s carbonation.  It also provides easier guzzling down of the all-natural passion fruit flavored goodness, which brings us to the taste criteria.  The passion fruit flavor is delicious, refreshing and aromatic.  It may be a little reminiscent of Rockstar’s Juiced Guava flavor, except minus the aluminum can and more on the sour side.  The downside is that the bottle’s complementary colors (blue and orange) may seem unappealing to the eye when first looked at.

The kick from NOS is much higher than other energy drinks.  The bottle allows fast and easy drinking, making it possible to drink a 22 oz. in a few minutes if you’re thirsty enough.  This may lead to at least 5 hours of jittery energy if you are idle.  This is the real deal.  NOS is an energy drink definitely worth trying out.

Rating:

Color:  10/10  (light yellow)

Container aesthetics:  9/10

Taste:  10/10

Kick:  10/10

Price:  8/10

More NOS facts:

  • The 16 fl. oz. canned NOS is around $2
  • You can reuse the bottle as a cool water bottle that will keep your water smelling like passion fruit, but will not mess with the taste
